Welcome to my Website

I wish to write a few words about some of my ideas which have led to the making of these paintings and drawings. 

My paintings represent a personal vision, an emotional involvement. I feel that painting has to encompass all the senses, and it is also about emotion. The joy of my subjects help implant the spirit of what I feel and see. 

Each landscape or portrait, has its own uniqueness; I endeavour to balance a degree of realism with the feelings I have for my subject, listening to it and being aware of the fragrance, the breeze, capturing the moment and searching for its essence.

My later work hovers between realism and abstraction; not always painting reality the way it is, but only my interpretation, my feeling for it, using light, colour and atmosphere - a reflection.

I believe that when I am inspired this reflection comes from my soul, an echo of the beautiful world as I see it. As paintings come in many different guises, they are open to individual interpretation. I hope my work gives my viewer a sense of strangeness, mystery, astonishment and pleasure.
